CAPE-V Consensus Auditory Perceptual Evaluation-Voice
The Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice (CAPE-V) was developed as a tool for clinical
auditory-perceptual assessment of voice. Its primary purpose is to describe the severity of auditory-perceptual
attributes of a voice problem, in a way that can be communicated among clinicians.
V-RQOL Voice-Related Quality of Life Measure
The V-RQOL is a 10 item questionnaire, it has a physical and social-emotional domain and is based on subjective answers by the patient.
GRBAS Rating Scale
GRBAS is an Auditory perceptual scale that is short and based on 5 measurements measured by the clinician. G-Grade (hoarseness), R-Roughness, B-Breathiness, A-Asthenia (weakness), S-Strain. Please see below for form.
Maximum Phonation Time
Have the client sustain the phonation of “ah” for as long as possible, with a timer. Complete 3 trials for the average maximum phonation time. Please see form below for norms.
Have the client sustain productions of “s” and “z” for as long as possible. Complete 3 trials for average s time and z time. Now divide s by z to get the ratio score. Please see form below for norms.
